Nourishing Families supports parents in transforming how they approach food and mealtimes in the home, leading to a more balanced diet for everyone and more enjoyable mealtimes creating better family connection.
Throughout the programme I support and guide - I definitely don’t dictate what anyone should be eating or doing. Instead I create a space for parents to take time to consider what and how they want their family mealtimes to be and decide what they do and don’t want to feed their children.
In the programme we cover a range of themes:
Session one: Self care and observation –keeping a food diary, what are you really eating? food messages from your own childhood, modelling, self care
Session two: Holding the space – the how and where, sitting at table, manners, rituals, slowing down
Session three: Rhythm and predictability – when are you eating? planning, timing, three meals v grazing, snacking, impact on digestion
Session four: Balanced nourishment - what to eat, nutritional considerations
Session five: Picky eating and other challenges - encouraging changes, stretching and broadening food choices
Session six: Creating your family food culture - bringing it all together to work for you and your family
The programme usually consists of group sessions held fortnightly over three months. I will also be offering an intensive version for busy or working parents where the programme will be contained over two Saturday workshops. I also run free intro workshops so you can get a better idea of what we are all about.
See the Nourishing Families website or Facebook page for more information and dates of upcoming events and workshops.
